Flow Meters with 4–20 mA Current Output
The 4–20 mA current signal is an established standard in industrial measurement technology, converting the measured flow rate into a proportional current signal. Key advantages of this principle include high noise immunity against electromagnetic interference and lossless signal transmission over long distances of several hundred meters. A crucial feature is the “live zero”: since the signal range begins at 4 mA, wire breaks (0 mA) or short circuits (>>20 mA) can be clearly detected.
Flow Meters with 0–10 V Voltage Output
With the 0–10 V voltage signal, the flow value is proportionally converted into a voltage signal that can be directly processed by the control system. The main advantage lies in the simple and direct integration into common PLC and automation systems, as many analog input cards support this voltage range by default. Particularly for short transmission distances within control cabinets or machinery, this interface offers a cost-effective and straightforward implementation.
